Congressman’s door open
As the newly elected representative for New York’s 21st Congressional District, including all of Essex, Fulton, Warren and Washington counties and parts of Herkimer and Saratoga counties, I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I came to upstate New York more than 30 years ago with the Air Force and stayed to raise a family and run a business. Now, it is my honor to represent you in Congress.
In Washington, we face many challenges in the months ahead. It’s time to get to work cutting spending, crafting a responsible Farm Bill and helping to create jobs in the community. To do this, leaders in Washington will have to set aside partisanship. This is no small task, but I am committed to a process based upon the facts, not ideology, and I am eager to work across the aisle to move America forward. As part of this effort, I joined a “Bipartisan Working Group” last year composed of over a dozen Democrats and Republicans in search of common ground. I hope to help double our membership so we can see real, bipartisan progress on issues that matter to New York.
To succeed, however, I need to hear from you. I encourage constituents to stay in touch and give me their thoughts on these and other important issues, whether it’s through a letter, by email, on our website (owens.house.gov) or on Facebook.
In addition, I will soon open the office in Glens Falls that my predecessor, Congressman Gibson, occupied throughout his service. I stand ready to help with everything from Social Security claims to veterans benefits to addressing regulations that affect local businesses.
If I can ever be of service, my door is always open. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead.
U.S. Rep. BILL OWENS
