Mr. Clyde Ernst, age 64, of Johnstown, died peacefully on Friday morning, January 11, 2013, at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown.
He was born October 5, 1948, in Gloversville, the son of the late Harold and Edna Gutha Ernst. A 1966 graduate of Gloversville High School, he then served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970 in Korea during the Vietnam War.
Clyde was employed in the Turbine Generator Division at General Electric Company in Schenectady for 37 years until he retired in 2005. He was a member of Foothills United Methodist Church and Pine Tree Rifle Club.
He loved to spend time with his family and also enjoyed hunting.
Clyde was married October 1, 1971, to Alecia Ruby Ernst, who survives. They have shared over 41 years of marriage. Also surviving are two sons: Clay Ernst (Sandra) of Scotia and Trent Ernst of Johnstown; four siblings: Donald Ernst (Flora) of Gloversville, Janice Ernst Hensel (Ralph) of Johnstown, James Ernst (Heidi) of Conifer, CO and Clayton Ernst (Jewel) of Gloversville; three grandchildren: Miranda, Ethan and Haley Ernst; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 14, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Edward A. Hackett Jr. officiating. Interment will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
