Richard J. Dority
Richard J. “Dicky” Dority, age 66, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, surrounded by his loved ones.
Dicky was born on October 23, 1946, in Gloversville. He was raised in the Caroga Lake area but spent most of his life in Bleecker. Dicky attended Meco Elementary School and continued his education at Gloversville High School.
Dicky worked for many years at local leather working companies, including Alliance Leather. He was also valued at GE as a Turbine Business Operations employee, where he earned the “Golden Q Award” for his dedication and hard work. In his later years, he worked for a local paving company.
He was a lifetime member of the Bleecker Fish and Game Club, where he made an abundance of friendships and a boatload of memories. As a sportsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a great love for the outdoors, where he had many great times with his hunting parties. He cherished his daily get togethers for coffee with the boys. Dicky will be missed and always remembered by all his family and friends.
Dicky is survived by his two sons, Michael Dority and David Dority and fiance Heather Kowalczyk, one daughter, Lisa Dority and fiance Brandon Cross, and one grandson, Jayson.
In addition to his children, he is survived by his father, John Stevens; four sisters, Charlene Wilder and late husband Dick Wilder, Donna Horning and husband John Horning, Debra Melita and Bonnie Pitt, and one brother, Alan Stevens and wife Bonnie Stevens.
He was predeceased by his loving mother, Blanche Stevens.
In accordance with Dicky’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Memorial contributions may be made in Dicky’s memory to the Bleecker Fish and Game Club, 1110 State Highway 309, Gloversville NY, 12078.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.
