H.S. Indoor Track Roundup: Knox second at Dartmouth Relays

HANOVER, N.H. – Gloversville’s John Knox finished second in the boys seeded 2-mile run with a time of 9:27.47 at the Dartmouth Relays on Saturday at Dartmouth College.

The time was a new school record.

He wasn’t the only local athlete to find success in New Hampshire.

The Fonda-Fultonville boys distance medley relay team set a new school record Friday at the two-day Dartmouth Relays at Dartmouth College.

The team of Tyler Angioli, Dalton Hunter, Cameron Gilligan and Matt Hoffman finished eighth with a time of 11:04.85, shattering the former school record of 11:30.24.

Angioli ran the 1,200-meter portion in 3:24.9 and Hunter ran the 400 leg in 55.4 seconds. Gilligan ran the 800 leg in 2:09.5 and Hoffman anchored the relay with a time of 4:30.5 in the 1,600-meter leg.

On Saturday, Kyle Giuffre finished 12th in the seeded shot put, reaching 43-3 1/2. Michael Sweet was 18th in the 55-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 8.62 seconds. Hoffman finished ninth in the boys seeded mile run with a time of 4:27.09.

Also on Friday, Angioli was ninth in the unseeded mile run with a time of 4:41.14. Gloversville’s Phil Meher was 50th, the Braves’ Dylan DeSorbo was 51st. Gloversville’s Justin Uniwslawski and Hunter Marshall were 55th and 56th.

Fonda-Fultonville’s James Westman was 22nd in the boys unseeded 2-mile run with a time of 10:33.78. Gloversville’s Adam Sleezer was 27th in 10:42.55.

For the girls, Fonda-Fultonville’s Lindsay Therrien qualified for the semifinals Saturday in the 55-meter hurdles. She finished 13th with a time of 9.59 seconds.

Gloversville’s Chanel Thomas was 35th with a time of 10.01 and Amanda Cabrera-Chase was 44th with a time of 10.20.

The Lady Braves’ Katie Wisniewski finished 30th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.78.

On Friday, Therrien was second in the unseeded long jump, reaching 15-1.

Kimberly Geniti was eighth in the girls unseeded mile run with a time of 5:36.96 and Gloversville’s Morgan Reinhardt was 22nd with a time of 5:50.76. The Lady Braves’ Samantha Phelps was 24th in 5:51.90.

Fonda-Fultonville’s Jamie Kasza was 12th in the girls unseeded 2-mile run with a time of 12:32.93.

Gloversville’s Carolyn Peck was 29th in the girls 600-meter dash with a time of 1:47.34.

Gloversville’s 800-meter relay team of Cabrera-Chase, Port, Thomas and Dayna Peck were 15th with a time of 1:58.11, also a new record.

GHS boys, girls finish 6th at Union

SCHENECTADY – The Gloversville boys and girls indoor track teams both placed sixth at a Tri-County Indoor Track League meet Saturday at Union College.

The boys team scored 19 points in the meet, while the girls recorded 29 points.
