Police: Man had child pornography
AMSTERDAM – City police said a man was arrested Tuesday for having child pornography.
Richard W. Smith, 44, of 165 Guy Park Ave., Apartment 3, was charged with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing a sexual performance by a child.
Police said Smith had his computer seized by city police in July, where child porn was allegedly found. Police said an investigation led to the search of Smith’s apartment Tuesday morning. Police said during the search, officers seized several photos of underage girls engaging in sexual acts.
Smith admitted to owning the photos and was charged, police said.
The New York State Police Computer Crimes Unit assisted in the search of the apartment.
Smith was arraigned in City Court, where he was sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $4,000 cash bail or $8,000 bond.
