Board: Porch can sit in city

GLOVERSVILLE – Pat Chase, of 33 N. Hollywood Ave., was granted a variance by the city Zoning Board of Appeals on Wednesday to erect a porch on the front of her house that would leave a 15-foot front yard instead of the required 30 feet.

The porch would have a roof over it, but Chase said she had no plans to make it an enclosed porch.

“I have driven by the location and this porch would blend with the design of the rest of the block,” board member Eugene Repenhagen said during the meeting.

Chase said at the meeting she plans to build the porch when the winter is over.
